I’m Raghav Sampath, a rising senior at Montclair Kimberley Academy in New Jersey, focused on American political history — electoral realignments, redistricting, and how parties build and break their coalitions. My junior thesis traced Bill Clinton and the New Democrats, and I write a Substack on New Jersey politics; alongside that I study democratic theory and the alternatives to voting that different societies have built. Aside from that, I’ve canvassed several New Jersey campaigns, and I am currently an intern for Congressman Josh Gottheimer and the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless. I am a High Honor Roll student. Besides Politics I also have a keen interest in behavioral economics, history, international relations, and American football.

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS)  2025

Accepted to Yale most competitive pre-college program (~10% acceptance rate). YYGS is an academic enrichment program for outstanding high school students from around the world. Each summer, students from over 150 countries (including all 50 U.S. states) participate in one interdisciplinary, two-week session at Yale’s historic campus. Columbia University Pre-College Program Summer   2024

Attended a Columbia Pre College program course focused on the Political and Economic Ideologies of the modern world. Spent 2 weeks studying a variety of political ideals, ranging from Communism to Conservatism whilst analyzing the works of philosophers such as John Locke and Milton Friedman. Concluded with a project centered around creating a mock campaign in preparation for the 2024 election.

 

Civics Unplugged Fellowship, Civic Innovators Program  2025

Selected for the Civic Innovators Fellowship. The program is a free, digital-first program designed for high school students globally who are eager to address community issues through innovative solutions. This fellowship helps young leaders explore systemic challenges and the creative approaches being used to overcome them.
